Happy 2010!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Welcome back to the Budget Scrapper Blog. I have been very busy over the holidays creating homemade gifts for family and friends including creating 10 new greeting cads to give as gifts, a wedding album and two baby scrapbooks! I promise to post photos of my scrapbooking projects and even instructions for creating some simple greeting cards you can try at home.

The holidays proved to be a treasure chest of bargains for scrapbooking supplies and tools. There was definitely a war going on between Michaels and AC Moore to see who could have the best deals. My opinion, Michaels won when it cam e to tools and electronic gizmos, but AC Moore won on paper, embellishments and in-store demonstrations. I was fortunate to be blessed this year and could afford a major purchase of a Gypsy device for the Cricut cutting machine. Michaels had it on sale for $199 the week after Christmas. That was a savings of $100 off the $299 price tag. I am so excited to have added that to my collection and am finding many new ways to use the cartridges I already own for the system.

Please feel free to share any bargains you run across with our fellow scrapper. Also, I am looking for those who have started community groups for scrappers. If you have started one, share your story. Let us know how often you meet, what you do, etc.

As always- Happy Scrapping!

Week 3

Hello All

Well it is the end of Week 3 for my class and I must share that I have done something I swore I would never do - I have opened a Facebook account. I know it's crazy. I was probably the only person on the planet without one. And yes, I have resisted for a very long time. Believe me, if it were not an assignment, I would not have done it. LOL

For all you Facebook Fans, send me a friend request and we can continue to chat. So far I have 23 friends-and that is just in one day! Mostly they are my son and surrogate kids, but I have been able to reconnect with a few people from high school-WOW! I am linking as many accounts together as possible for ease of enjoyment, so bare with me.

This week, I also created a network for scrappers on Ning.com. The home page is beautiful and I am really quite proud of it. It was easy to create and will prove a valuable tool in connecting fellow scrappers to each other. I encourage all to stop by and check it out at www.budgetscrappers.ning.com. Again, this page is in its fledgling week so keep checking back for more goodies.

For those of you who are already 'connected to the world', God bless you. This is beginning to feel like a full time job just to keep up. I know, once everything is in place, it will all run like clockwork.

Now for some Scrapper News. Officially we kicked off the holiday season with Black Friday Shopping. If you missed it, Michael's had select Cricut cartridges for $30 & $35 dollars. But don't fear, today is Cyber Monday. If you have had your eye on the NEW Gypsy cutter from Cricut, it is on sale today for $239 (normally $299) - that's a savings of $60! Also, Michaels is offering 1/2 off slice cartridges which normally retail for $35-40 each. Take advantage of the sales while you can so you can begin you Holiday cards!

Check you local newspaper advertisements for other great deals at Michael's and A.C. Moore. 'Tis the season for SALES!

Remember, our goal is to make 10 customized cards for those extra special people in our lives. I am in the process of designing a gift card holder for those on my holiday list. I will post pictures and instructions as soon as I am done. Meanwhile Happy Scrapping!

Introduction

Hello All
This is my first attempt at blogging. I hear it is the rage and as a school project, my class is tasked with creating a blog on whatever we choose. So I chose Scrapbooking.

This week we learned all about Wikis, blogs, and Twitter. Very fascinating! Be sure to follow me on Twitter as well. For another class project, I will be setting up a wiki link to help my fellow scrapper find thrifty resources on the web (and locally) to aid in your addiction to scrapping and saving as many dollars as possible. It will also include links to articles, books to read, techniques, product reviews and much more.

I encourage you to stop by and add your two cents as well. All input is welcome.

Well that's it for now. Check back weekly for new posts and I encourage you to check out the advertises listed on the blog-you might find some hidden surprises.
